Ah jees, just why? Why, this genre of video games I just don't understand why in the hell people play these fucking things. I mean yeah, you get to play as famous sports stars, you get to coach the play, you get to see your teams, and the more I stay away from Nascar the better. However, from all the sport games that had been made over the years almost nothing has changed about them except for new players, better graphics, and possibly new mechanics and that's it. So why is it everyone goes nuts with this crap?

Now the way I see it, game companies such as Electronic Arts found the key to get into both the sport lovers and the gamers minds and with that key they're able to make more money to fill their pockets. But the genre is just played out, they're all the same! Like I said the only thing they changed is the graphics, the characters, and the mechanics, that's it! There's nothing that new to it, it's like giving large unhealthy amount of coffee to a caffeine addict, everyone including the addict knows that it's unhealthy to drink more than four cups a day but the addict cant help but drink it and he'll find a way to get that caffeine rush one way or another.

With that, sport games come in a variety of forms; Baseball, Basketball, Soccer, Hockey, and the most famous of them all American Football. Now I'm going to tell you guys something that may or may not blow your mind and actually open your eyes on what the hell you're doing playing video games like this. You want to play a video game then you can play a video game but if you want to play a sports game then "Go Outside." Yeah, because why would you a sports fan play a non-productive game instead of going outside and play.

You don't got a ball or the equipment to play it? Buy the equipment or improvise, use sticks and pine cones I don't know? If you're a kid in school then join a sports team, if you're an adult then get some friends or go and find a team to join. Because of you, you're making video gamers look fat and lazy and there's a lot of video gamers as thin as a toothpick. Plus, how can you call yourself a sports fan if you don't play sports at all? That's like a child saying that he likes swimming yet when he goes to the pool he just sits there and watch eating Sun Chips all day.

Also, how does people find entertainment in this? A Sports video game is nothing more different than watching it on TV, and in TV they just do the same thing over and over again but with different odds. The prime example I can give you is of course American Football. Here you have two teams placed in opposite sides of the field and it's the team's job to get the ball to the rival team's goal while they do their best to stop you. They switch out from time to time and the players are placed in different points of the area but that's all they do.

So you're probably wondering, "Well was there a game company that dared to make Football a little more interesting in video games?" Well my friend I say yes, there has been a few game companies who went their way and took Sport Video games to a new level. One of which is a game known as "Toxic Grind" for the original Xbox and the plot is that you're a BMX biker who was brought to the future where you are injected with lethal poisons and forced to compete in a TV sports show to get a cure. There's also Mario Super Strikers for game cube, Simpsons Skate for Playstation 2, the list goes on.

The reason why I feel more at ease with these sport games than the other sport games like NBA Live or NHL12 or whatever is because in these it brings out the key element that makes a video game; Imagination and Fantasy. Because with NFL and NBA games, there are people who can do this as well as you if you put your time and effort into practicing, training, and exercise in order to compete as well as certain school degrees and all that so if you spent your time making yourself the best at that sport then you can accomplish a bit more in life and maybe go professional in the future if you play your cards right.

In games like Toxic Grind, that shit never happens. You cant go into the future and be forced to compete, you cant set a soccer ball on fire with a simple kick, you cant skate with pure yellow skin because you're most likely dying from organ failure or alcohol poisoning or something. And that's what video games are, they're a way to escape reality and into the fantasy of a different world where you are either a heroic knight off to save a princess or a space soldier killing off aliens or demons, it's stuff that you can never do in real life as you embrace the inner child in you and have actual fun with the world and characters (NOT UNLESS IT'S A SHITTY FUCKING GAME, I'M TALKING TO YOU BLUE DRAGON YOU ANIME PIECE OF SHI-) but anyways moving on.

So if you're saying that you cant play an actual sport because you are either crippled like in a wheel chair, that's why they got the Special Olympics for where they show people who cant use their limbs or body parts can still do sports. There's people in wheelchairs that can play Basketball, there's people without legs running, the list goes on so saying "Oh but I'm in a wheelchair" is just an excuse to go out and try. There are other medical issues where actually going out and play a sport is a big problem but that's why we got games like Toxic Grind. Though it is a sports game it's still counts as a fantasy because almost nothing in that game isn't real.

I just wish Sport Video games just follow those examples, make the game less realistic and more fun. Add obstacles, add something to make it less more like the real thing. Otherwise you're just going to make gamers look bad in the long run and make most sport fans fat and lazy to not achieve their dreams in sports and what not. It doesn't teach the child anything about the sport either other than the players and teams, if they were placed in charge with a real sports team then that team would've failed more than a Baking Soda Volcano in a Science Convention which by the way sums up how I mostly see Sport Video games now these days.
If you were to own a sports video game like NFL or whatever then I feel sorry for you.
