As everyone knows I'm a big fan for Sonic the Hedgehog, I own alot of his games, draw him most of the time, as well as other things. Yet sometimes there's a time where I just want to say "Why did you made this in the first place" but later on I start to see why. Two examples of this was the Sonic 06 game where I theorized that maybe they didnt have enough money in the budget or enough time to correct everything. The other one is Shadow the Hedgehog the Video Game.

So in this game, you play as the badass Sonic character, Shadow the Hedgehog aka the Ultimate Lifeform aka Ego Maniac. Yeah, the day I believe he's the real Ultimate Lifeform is the day Tails says that he's actually a woman. So anywho in this game the story is that this army of aliens known as the Black Arms lead by an evil creature known as Black Doom and wants the Black Hedgehog to join his cause to take over the world, and boy does his plan suck. I mean he got plans for flying ruins and going into cyberspace which I'm not even going to explain how he can do that much less any of the other characters, and not to mention the use of the Space Colony ARK.

I'm sorry, but this is a bit overboard here but if you were going to take over the planet then why did you bring just one ship? I mean it's pretty logical right there, when you imagine like an army of space aliens you imagine them having multiple ships or something. But no, instead we only got one which is a comet meaning it can explode more easier. But that's not where I draw the line, it's the creatures that upsets me. They look more like Demons instead of Aliens.

Now which is better, Shadow the Hedgehog fighting Aliens, or Shadow the Hedgehog fighting Demons? Simple question yes, Demons of course. And dont say" Oh but there's no Demons nor unholy beings in Mobius" yeah but this a series that has a crystalline blood shot monster hedgehog, a giant lava monster, a flying two headed demon like monster, do I need to go on. Even the final boss look like a Demon! So why did they choose Aliens from Space instead of Demons from Hell! That would be more cooler and epic!

But enough about that, lets get to the gameplay. Now unlike your traditional Sonic Games this one is rather slow paced and platformed at the same time. Meaning you can go as fast as you want but you're only going one direction per level and you need to watch where you're going. Speaking of which, the level design are a meh. Sure it's gamcube/ps2 standards and all that but my god they're ridiculous. I mean the cyberspace levels made me want to rip my eyes out because of all the colors, the city levels are rather boring and tedious at the same time, not to mention that even if you do side with Black Doom the Black Army will still try to kill you. So what's the point of being with Black Doom?

Well basically the only way to unlock the final level is that you defeat every boss per semi-final level per story. So lets do some math here. There's two bosses per semi-final level, and there are atleast five semi-final levels. Meaning there's atleast ten bosses, and by ten bosses I mean just three bosses repeated. Dr. Eggman, Black Doom, and Sonic with Diablon.

Now how the boss levels play out are quite different. Dr. Eggman is like a slot machine type boss in where you just chase him around this ring and hit his button in order to activate his weapons on himself which by the way Dr. Eggman that was one of the most stupidest design of a killer robot you have made so far. The next boss is Black Doom which all you do is just dodge his attacks and hit him when he's in the center or charging his attack. Finally, Sonic and Diablon, basically you're just focusing on Diablon. Sonic is just there to annoy you.

The Final Level though was the most annoying, it was incredibly long and it was a challenge to get there which was fun but it was annoying as well but I have to give it credit it was quite the challenge and I've beaten it. Now for the Final Boss, you get to play as Super Shadow and unlike Sonic 06 your Chaos Spears are your basic attack while Chaos Control and Chaos Blast is increased to stopping time to creating all sorts of havoc on your enemy. Which by the way the final boss "DEVIL"Doom also has the Chaos Control ability meaning he can teleport from one spot to the next. And I got to tell you, this boss is fucking fun as hell, literally!

So in short this game is a solid "Meh" in my opinion and people should get it mostly on the gamecube to enhance the experience of a Sonic Game. All I can say is this, if someone plans to make a sequel out of this, use Demons. Not freaking Aliens, we got enough of that crap years ago, it's time to use Demons!
This game is a solid 5/10. Neither a good game or a bad game

Are you kidding? The cyberspace levels were the only good levels in the game! And the colors you're complaining about were one of the things that made them look so different and interesting.
